First Steps In Refreshing and Redecorating The Homestead

Decorating is one of those annual jobs that very few folk actually view with relish.  I know hundreds of house owners who absolutely dread the start of winter . . . . .  as it inevitably means someone getting the colour & shade charts organised and instructions are issued to everyone living at the property to make sure they put their own goods away and generally make the place more tidy and less like a dumping ground.  Once Christmas is over is when the first itchy feeling comes to the keener of the household to get the job underway.  They start with washing down the painted woodwork and brush down each ceiling.  Then before the walls are cleaned, the brush gets swept over the skirting boards and dado rails.  The little trial pots of paint are a great source of inspiration and you can get a little carried away with enthusiasm for trying out shades on all four walls – to catch the sun at any given hour of the day.  Those trial pots are not cheap either so one has to choose carefully.

There is a really professional decorator who lives near here.  He is so much in demand that his list runs to two years hence.  He does a fantastic job and it’s obvious why he is so popular.  He does all the woodwork first, as that is fiddly and takes longer to dry.  He then does alll the ceilings and finally the walls.  If there are doors involved, these are done with the other woodwork.  They have to be taken off their hinges, so that takes time and adds to the costs.
